“The Castle”: The Magic of a Unique Creation
“The Castle” is much more than just a DJ mix; it is a work of art that reflects the magic, mystery, and deep emotions that have shaped KENN’s journey as an artist. Inspired by two universes that left an indelible mark on his life, Hogwarts and the Salazar Castle from Resident Evil 4, this project not only connects with his musical roots but also embodies a visual and emotional concept that has been crucial in his evolution.
From a very young age, Kevin was captivated by stories of magic and mystery that defined his imagination, and “The Castle” is the materialization of that sonic magic. “Creating melodies is not easy; it requires a peak of inspiration, and remembering those moments and characteristic sounds made everything flow more smoothly. I wanted to convey something magical, something that evokes that feeling of the unknown and the wonderful,” shares Kevin. Influenced by Resident Evil 4, particularly the group “Los Iluminados,” the project has a unique atmosphere, with a sound construction that breathes mystery.
The Creative Process: From Inspiration to the Complete Set
The creation of El Castillo was an intense and organic journey. “Once I had the tracks ready, I knew I couldn’t wait any longer to create the DJ Mix,” KENN explains. This mix not only features songs from his album Eleven Rose, but also his debut single Photosynthesis, Blond Butterfly, and other unreleased tracks. KENN carefully selected the songs that would make up this set, crafting an auditory experience that tells a story from the very first minute.
The structure of the set is a narrative in itself. “My goal is to create a story that unfolds throughout the session. It’s about listening, getting lost in the experience, and feeling the emotions, no matter the moment. In the end, that’s when everything makes sense,” he says.
A Project Made with Passion and Sacrifice
The mix was fully produced by Kevin Trindade (KENN) and his team of friends (Fckng Sound), a label he created that thrives on mutual effort and collaboration. “All the members of Fckng Sound contributed to this project. From securing the cameras, finding the perfect spot to record, to transporting all the equipment. It was a collective effort, and something we’ll always remember,” he comments.
The result was a genuine and high-quality product that received praise within the Uruguayan scene. “The great production was highly praised. Everything they heard was 100% our own, which contributed to the authenticity of the entire project,” Kevin explains. The Castle received exposure both nationally and internationally, becoming a key moment in Kevin’s growth as an artist and capturing the attention of promoters and fans worldwide.
Global Impact: Recognition and Evolution
The international impact was significant as well. Renowned artists like Hozho, among others, praised the production of The Castle, highlighting its high quality and the right path Kevin was taking. “Receiving this kind of feedback from artists I respect so much brought me great peace of mind. Knowing that the effort was worth it and that the direction I’m heading is the right one was incredibly rewarding,” he says.
Despite all the work and sacrifice that this project required, Kevin sees The Castle as just the beginning. “This set is a session, but the next two projects are on their way. We’re always evolving,” he concludes.
